In each episode we dive into the media that inspired George Lucas to create the Star Wars franchise as well as the media he made leading up to the 1977 release of the original Star Wars film.

It’s also worth noting that there was a Flash Gordon television series in 1954. In fact, when the serials were released on television, they were renamed as Space Soldiers to avoid confusion. The TV series doesn’t appear to be as much of an influence on Lucas as the serials were. However — its impossible to watch the pilot and not see how it influenced Star Trek!
